I would suggest a magic DVD - there are dozens for sale at magic web sites and most cost less than $30. I would suggest “Born to Perform Card Magic” by Oz Perlman. I have that DVD. It will take you from a beginner to an intermediate card magician.

It teaches all of the basic card “sleights” and four full card routines that will blow people away. The teaching is superb and will give you the skills to take on about any trick.

As with all magic, expect to practice, practice, practice. Each routine will take a couple weeks of practice to perfect. However it is worth it. These are not your Grandpa Joe’s card tricks. These are professional routines that will leave people thinking that you really are magic.

If you are really anxious for a KILLER card trick that is easy to perform - try the Haunted Deck. Your spectator selects a card and you slide it back into the middle of the deck. Then the selected card levitates out out the deck as if by a ghost. It is an “instant download” from penguinmagic.com and costs $10 to download plus about $5 worth of materials from Walmart.
