Well shuffling cards can usually be pretty interesting depending on how you do it. Or you can do like in the casino when the layout 50 cards on a table using one continuous motion to lay the cards out side by side.

Yeah teach him a simple one, such as when you flip the bottom card of the deck the wrong way and have someone pick a card. Flip the deck over without them seeing and have them put it back in. Of course their card will now be upside down in the deck.

tell him to pick a card.. look at the bottom card of the deck. tell him to put his card on top, cut the deck, then his card will be next to the bottom card.
also. put his card on top, and make him hold it tight with thumb on top (bottom card of deck face up) and four fingers lined up on bottom. smack the deck and his card will be left

good luck!

1.get a deck of cards.
2.before you try and show him the trick get the “9 of hearts, 9 of dimonds, 3 of hearts, and 3 of dimonds”
3.put the 3 of dimonds on the bottom of the deck and the 9 of hearts on the top. then put the other three and nin on the top.
4. let him draw the first two cards ( 3-hearts, and 9-dimonds) leaveing 9-hearts on the top.
5. tell him “look at the cards and memorise them, when your done memorising…” *you set deck down* “put them ANYWHERE in the deck”. make him think you dont know its the 9, and 3.
6. he looks and places cards in deck *note: the cards dont have to be together.
7. grabe the deck with you right hand (or left if your left handed) and say something like ” now…at the speed of light im going to search this deck and get the cards youv drawn”
8. (optional) this is for affect only but keep them in your hands and close your eyes as if your getting metaly prepared or something
9. quikly toss the deck to you other hand keeping a grip on the top 9 and 3. all the other cards should go to the other hand
10. show him the cards and ask if there the right ones
the object is to hope he dosent realise that he saw 3-hearts and 9-dimonds and you showd him 3- dimonds and 9- hearts

To do magic, either use rigged items (magic set), or sleights of hand.
Sleights are not easy to learn, but they are very effective simply because you use normal items.
Try learning double lift. Lifting up two cards, you can do many effect with this sleight. Try searching at youtube
One more very important sleight is tenkai palming. Its how to hold a card between your thumb and palm, completely hidden from front view. search youtube on how to do tenkai palming
With tenkai palming, you can vanish and produce a card
If you’re good, you can tenkai palm a few cards and slowly produce them one by one. it looks like you’re producing card out of thin air

I would recommend the game of spades. It’s a skill game but can be played in differenet levels so it should be ok for your nephew. It’s also played in groups so it fun to communcate with other people. I’ve added a link for a good site that explains the spades game for details
