I want to buy a deck so i could amaze my friends, and I was just wondering if there would be some type of special deck that could be the most useful when performing magic tricks.

You need to go to a magic shop…there are a few different kinds of Decks of Cards that are designed for certain tricks…

One Deck is slightly narrower at one end than the other…So you have someone take a card…then you rotate the deck…the card holder then puts the card back into the Deck and it is the only card in backwards and you can pick it out really easy…Ooops…I’ve said too much…they’re gonna be after me now…

okay. the cards you need for magic are printed by the us playing card company (uspcc).
these are bicycle, bee, tally-ho, and all the variations of these, which can all be found at ellusionist.com.
there are 2 sizes also: poker for bigger and bridge for smaller hands.
do NOT use plastic cards. yes they are expensive, but dont think they are expensive because of their quality in magic. those cards are only good for playing because they are very durable.
so get some bicycles and go amaze your friends :)

If you want to learn real tricks with plain cards, use Bicycle, Bee, or Tally-ho decks in whatever size fits your hands. Magic tens to chew cards up, so get several decks in both colors.
has some cool cards that just plain LOOK magical!

For a deck of cards that does magic on its own, get a Svengali Deck- this is often sold at toy stores, etc. It is best to get it and a book (like “101 Uses for a Svengali Deck”) and practice a bit first.

The best way to do this is to find a small local magic shop, or magic counter in a toy or other store and ask the store magician for help.

As you get better, you will learn that there are three main ‘magic decks’- the stripper, the short and long, and the rough and smooth.

Stripper decks are set up so every card is a bit narrower on one end so if they are all lined up, and one is put back in backwards, it is a bit wider than the rest and is easily found.

Short and long decks are rigged so every other card is a bit shorter than the rest. As you riffle, you only really riffle the long cards and the short cards hide in between.

Rough and smooth decks are similar ot short and longs, but the cards are treated so pairs of cards are just a tiny bit sticky to each other, so as you shuffle them or fan them, they stay together.

Special decks can usually be gotten in the main designs mentioned earlier. Whichever design yours is, get a matching normal deck and you can do miracles… after some practice!

By the way- Borders and Barnes and Noble usually have boxed magic sets with a deck or two and a book. This is usually a great value, and a great way to start!
